Some basic principles and problems/challenges of Discipline and solutions

The teacher in the classroom gives instructions that enables pupils to attend to a given task.Discipline is dynamic of helping pupils to focus their attention towards learning goals.Discipline enables learners to be self driven and change according to children's stage of development and help them to move to the next stage.For one to be disciplined enough should fully meet the basic needs such as food ,security ,safety,warmth etc.Effective discipline is strongly related to refrective teaching and learning.
Disciplinary problems exist whenever the behaviour interferes with the teaching activities ,the right of others to learn ,the right of teachers to teach and when it is psychologically or physical unsafe.It therefore a violation of the school's expectation as it constitutes disruptive behaviour.
Disciplinary Challenges
Negative attitudes from the parents result from poor communication between parents and the teacher .Home ,religious and economic backgrounds influence certain behaviours.
Teachers may lack expertise ,as they fail to plan work suitable for learners and grouping them.
Pupils' attitudes towards the school work .Physical disabilities ,for example hearing impairment.
The school may be insensitive to the pupils' needs ,not supporting them.The school climate as it define its tone which are strict rules ,or near the bar ,road etc.
The school may have very large classes.
Community tends to practices patterns of behaviour that leads them to survive.The curriculum is not benefiting them after long time schooling.

staff development,inservice training and include the teachers when planning
split classroom to be manageable and introduce hot sitting
