Writing academic assignment is the requirements of the course at high school college or university education. A student should in a position to represent an academic piece of work which is pleasing.
Assignment is an academic work given to a student by a lecturer. A piece of work done in writing by individual or the group of the whole class. It is done to answer a question or a proposition.
The strategies in writing assignment is first to analyse question topic.The task demands and highlight the keywords in the lesson. Make an extra effort before you attempt to answer the question to understand the demands of the question and now answer accordingly. Avoid creating your own question.
For every piece of work written to attract the interests of the reader is the good introduction. Focus on the theme of the question and what to write about. Let it be focused such that if the reader is tired is energised to continue with whole idea of the question in the introduction.Indicate how you are going on the deal with the question and in what order . Be short and avoid rewriting the topic.
After the introduction go to the definition of terms. Identify some keywords from the topic or question.Define them using authorities atleast two different one make your work balance.For each term end up giving your own definition.
This stage is now the development stage of your work. Which is the body,main discussion or exposition. Avoid personalising ,that's using 'or ,we',unless the topic says me.
Avoid using 3rd singular 'you' and sweeping statements or generalisation.The use of colloquial language (informal).
Aim at unity of ideas in your sentences and paragraphs ,thus make use of some joining words ,for example 'moreover', 'as noted above' in contrast ,however etc.
Make use of short and familiar words rather than long and confusing ones. Put in blackets what is in another language or wrong example for instance (srow) for slow. Aovid use of abbreviations in the essay eg ie etc.
Be consistant in tense use and avoid shifting of tense and should be guided by the title. Ensure correct use of subject verb agreement and use of articles like the ,a ,an.
Give a detailed discuss and answer the question covering all the information the question requires. The essay must based on sound knowledge of ideas from literature and sources of those ideas and information.
The conclusion must be a summary ,no new idea ,citation and tying the threads of ideas discussed.
When referencing and citation take notes below.
Always acknowledge sources of the borrowed ideas.you may ask,'when do we acknowledge sources?' We acknowledge when supporting an idea ,fact ,argument ,paraprase ,quotation from authority.
Many colleges and universities allow their students to acknowledge sources using the Havard system and methods.
The Havard acknowledges the author ,page number ,date of publication in the text with full details of the work with reference list at the end of the work.
When quoting ,taking the words as they are covering 1-3 lines of writing pad. Long quotes of above 3 lines must indent, also taking exactly the words as they are. Still on quoting in the process and may want to leave some words either on the beginning ,middle or end of the quotation used 3 dots(...).
Now most materials is easily accessible on the internet ,I am not yet come across any definite standard available online for citing. Then cite author's surname and date of publication.It may not possible to give page number ,but full details of such are found on the site.
When quoting from journal ,articles ,quote the name of particular author then the editor on the reference list .Maxwell in the home&leisure November 2008.
